Post GFC of 2008, David worked with the CEO and Executive Team of a major UK-based real estate investment management business to redesign the business model and the entire organisation. David helped management achieve substantial cost savings and created the opportunity for scalable growth. David led and delivered the transformation programme across the whole business with international operations and 150 employees. The programme included a redefinition of governance structures, systems, processes, policies and roles and responsibilities across all role families, as well as the cultural change needed to embed the new model.
David helped a large fund manager create and grow a successful infrastructure business. In four years, the business scaled up from zero to £2.5bn of AUM, 30 employees and a strong pipeline of new capital and investments. David achieved this by formulating business and investment strategies that maximised market opportunities, executing the implementation plans rigorously, designing and developing the core operations (teams, processes and governance) as well as building infrastructure-specific operating support within the larger fund management business.
We advised the founders of a hospitality business focused on building retirement communities on their growth strategy, the development of a business model and governance for a larger group, and business planning incorporating an expansion of operations, acquisition of assets as well as development of resorts.
We advised the founders of a start-up aiming to make institutional real estate investment accessible to smaller investors through adoption of new technologies. We helped management with the formulation of the investment strategy, the design of governance, the set-up of the vehicle and development of the proposition.
We advised the GP of a new fund investing in the UK Care Home sector, by identifying the market opportunities in the sector, developing the investment strategy and proposition for overseas institutional investors, designing the investment governance and helping with the set-up of vehicles and agreements with operating partners. We also assisted with sourcing potential partners, pipeline of transactions and outlining the proposition to potential investors.
We advised the founders of a start-up focusing on renewable energy solutions. Specifically, we helped the management with business model, long term strategic positioning, organisational design, capital/financial planning and governance, as preparation for capital raising.
